Hello Lovelies! Long time no talk! I'm so sorry, I have been so exhausted this past week adjusting to my new work schedule, that this was the first time in days I have found a moment to write anything. I have missed writing on my blog & interacting with all you lovely people so so much! Today, I wanted to write about a product I'm sure you all have heard plenty about already, the Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms. These juicy little tubes of tinted balm have been out for awhile, but it wasn't until last weekend when I was in San Francisco that I found myself lacking a lip balm & popped into a Walgreens to pick one up. Ever since then, I have gone back for two more!
Left to Right: Pink Punch, Peach Kiss, & Quenched |
For a drugstore lip balm, the Maybelline Baby Lips have far exceeded my expectations. Unlike other lip balms that feel waxy and seem to just sit on top of the lips without doing a whole lot of anything, these feel very smooth & hydrating. I also find that they are relatively long lasting, especially the pigmented pink version, Pink Punch. As an added bonus, they also contain SPF 20, which is always beneficial and especially pertinent now in the Summer months when we get extra sun exposure.
Pink Punch was the first of the three I purchased & is arguably my favorite of the bunch. It is also the most pigmented. This imparts the loveliest bright pink dewy look on the lips & is the perfect everyday brightening lip shade for Summer. The color is remarkably long lasting & doesn't feather like some pigmented lip products do. Love!
Unfortunately, Peach Kiss is my least favorite. The color is a subtle nude sheen & is pretty enough. Sadly, I can't get past the smell. It is a strong fruity medicinal scent that is difficult for me to explain, but smells too reminiscent of "old lady lipstick." Honestly, the scent might not be at all offensive to others, but I think it is just a matter of personal preference. However, if "lipstick" or strong fruit punch scented lip products bother you, I would steer clear of this particular shade.
My second favorite is the Quench version. This lip balm has found a happy permanent home in my purse. It is a hydrating, clear balm that smells and tastes faintly of lemonade (yum!).
Below, I have swatched Pink Punch & Peach Kiss. I didn't think there was much of a point to swatch the Quench version, as it is a clear balm.

Hope you all have a great week! As always, thanks for reading!
Lots of Love,
Louise
