July Empties

Hello Lovelies! It has been too long! As I mentioned before, I decided to talk a little break from the blogging world to focus my full attention on my new job. My plan seems to have worked out though because I absolutely love it! However, I have missed writing and interacting with you all, so I am so happy to be back!

Last month, I decided to put myself on a cosmetics spending ban. The amount of money I had been spending on makeup and cosmetics recently had really gotten out of control and I honestly own more products than any one girl could ever go through. I'm still allowing myself to purchase things when I run out such as skincare or concealers and foundation etc. But, I have to say I have actually found quite a sense of accomplishment building my little collection of empties! Nice to know my money didn't go to waste for once!

Pureology HydraCure Intense Moisture Hair Masque

This is my all-time favorite hair masque. It smells delicious, only needs to be left on the hair for 5 minutes (I'm too impatient to wait around 20-30 minutes for my hair masque to work), and is chock-full of nutritious ingredients that restore shine and vitality to the hair.

Repurchase?: Yes! Next time I am at a beauty supply store, this purple tub of joy is coming home with me!

Caudalie Cleansing Water

I originally received this sample size of Caudalie's makeup removing water in a perk set from Sephora.  I love this makeup remover! Although it doesn't do a great job of removing my long-wearing eye makeup (I turn to Lancome's Bi-Facil for that arduous task), this little gem is wonderful for removing all my face makeup before cleansing at night. It smells so sweet and soothing and is ultra gentle on my reactive skin. It leaves no oily residue and has not broken me out at all.

Repurchase?: Yes! I already went out and bought the full size bottle.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

In July, I finally gave into the hype and purchased the smaller size of the infamous Beauty Elixir. While I did enjoy this product, I'm not entirely sure it made a huge difference in the condition of my skin. Also, I wasn't a huge fan of how it made my eyes sting slightly after spraying my face. This is a nice product, but not a necessity for me.

Repurchase?: Most likely not. I didn't dislike this toner, but wasn't amazed by it either. Also, this little bottle cost me $18 and only lasted 2 weeks...

Morrocanoil Treatment

I use this hair oil every time I wash my hair, along with my Kerastase Nectar Thermique. This does a great job of smoothing down any frizz. As long as I avoid my scalp area, I don't feel that this weighs my hair down or makes it greasy at all.

Repurchase?: I already have another bottle that I am trying to use up. I do love this hair oil, but I am curious to try some of the others on the market. In particular, I would like to try the new Kerastase Cristalliste Lumiere Liquide, which I received a sample of and loved.

Benefit the Porefessional

I have mixed feelings about this pore-minimizing primer from Benefit. Although I do think this makes a nice smooth canvas before makeup application, I actually think this silicon-heavy primer may be giving me blackheads. I tend to rotate between this primer and tarte's Clean Slate Flawless Primer, depending on my mood.

Repurchase?: I have another tube that I still need to use up. Like the hair oil, I am also curious to try out a few different primers, especially the Smashbox Photo Finish Light.

Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara

I am so impressed by this drugstore mascara! Even my mom noticed the other day in the car and said it looked like I was wearing false lashes. This mascara is inexpensive, doesn't dry out quickly, holds a curl well, doesn't clump and imparts lovely volume to the lashes. I am convinced that this is a dupe for Benefit's They're Real Mascara (even the brush is almost identical).

Repurchase?:  Yes! I already have!

Seche Vite Top Coat

There is not much to be said about this top coat besides it is the best that money can buy. It dries your nail polish in a matter of minutes (great for clumsy, impatient people like me), makes the nails glossy and shiny, and helps manicures and pedicures last a week at minimum without chips.

Repurchase?: I cannot imagine a day when I will stop purchasing this top coat!

Feel free to let me know your thoughts on any of these products! Thank you so much for reading!

Lots of Love,

Louise

  3. I LOVE Seche Vite! I can't imagine a nail polish day without it! I just hate that mine always goes bad half way down, lol. I may have to get Restore.

And cut open the top of Porefessional; I have it too and thought I'd ran out and got another weeks worth out of it. :)

I must try that Revlon Mascara; I've been looking for a good Drugstore mascara! :)

  7. Love empties blog posts. I'm starting to do them monthly now too. Have you tried the Macadamia hair mask? I curious how the Pureology one compares to it?

    1. Sorry Meredith, I unfortunately haven't tried the macademia hair masque, so I couldn't tell you how they compare. I have though heard mixed reviews... all I know is the Pureology one is amazing!

  8. I've heard good things about the Caudalie Cleansing Water, I'm curious to try it out once my Bioderma runs out. Thanks for the heads up about the wand of the Revlon mascara being similar to the Benefit - will have to check it out now :) Though I haven't seen that one in the shops just yet where I live.

  10. Phh that hair mask looks amazing! I am testing out the Shampoo and Condition from the same pueple purology line and althought I am not sure about the shampoo the conditioner is amazing!

I know what you mean about the Porefessional...it is actually one of my go-to primers on nights out but I defiantely think it might cause some skin issues if I used it on more of a daily basis :)

Seche Vite is amazing, I'm way too clumsy to not mess up my nail polish if i'm waiting a long time for it to dry!!
