Today I'm Wearing #6: A Glimpse of Glitter

Essie- A Cut Above & butter LONDON - Teddy Girl
I realize you have probably seen this nail look a hundred times before, but for me to actually wear something besides a creme finish on my nails is quite a departure from the norm! Also, I thought this combo was such a pretty & understated way to still wear the glitter polish trend without going all-out disco on your nails!

Although I love the color & wear time of butter LONDON's Teddy Girl, I have to warn you- this color is a pain  to work with. The color is thick & incredibly streaky. There is no way you could get away with wearing any less than 2 coats. In order to hide all the streaks on my nails, I had to apply three coats.

If you are looking for a cheaper dupe of Teddy Girl, I recommend you pick up Fiji by Essie. Fiji is much milkier and less pastel pink than Teddy Girl, but it still gives a similar effect on the nails.

As far as glitter polishes go, I absolutely love the understated rose-gold glitter in Essie's A Cut Above. This top coat looks great over a wide range of pink polishes & adds a gorgeous mirror-like sparkle.

How do you feel about wearing glitter on your nails?

Thanks for reading!

Lots of Love,

Louise

    1. Thanks! Yeah Teddy Girl is great as long as you have the patience to work with it! I guess the payoff though is that the wear is amazing- lasts 5 days easily w/out chipping

    1. Butter has great colors! I've really been eyeing some of their new bright shades for Spring/Summer. Too bad about the streaking, but I think that comes with the territory of almost any nail polish brand.

    1. Thanks! It's one of my favorite opaque baby-pinks. My only wish is for it to be a little easier to work with!

  8. I really wanted BL Teddy Girl, the colour is my ideal baby pink!...but I have to admit that I am not patient when it comes to polish and I'm glad I havent splashed out the $18 for it!

Have you tried/seen OPI's Mod About You? I wonder if it is a similar colour.

    1. Hi Courtney! Teddy Girl is a great color but I completely understand not wanting to deal w/a difficult polish! I haven't personally seen OPI's Mod About You, but from what I can see in pictures, it looks a bit darker/more pink than Teddy Girl. Essie's Fiji is pretty similar (and much cheaper!) but just a smidge lighter & milkier. Hope that helps!

  9. I completely understand, I almost always have a french mani on because I love the classic combo, but I always want to break out and wear fun nail color and sparkle combos. Very pretty colors!

    1. Thanks for the comment Ewa! I know, sometimes it's hard to get away from what you're used to! But I think the classics are always great & feminine-looking as well!

  13. I love glittery polishes, but I don't wear them often since it's a pain to take off. I love that pink butter polish
