Hi Everyone! I took a little shopping trip to Target a few days ago and picked up a few goodies I wanted to share with you. I've really been coveting the look of bright lips seen splashed all over magazines & makeup counters lately. Since I wasn't sure whether or not bright lips would look good on myself though, I didn't want to make a huge investment & decided to pick up some affordable drugstore options.
I thought it would be helpful to show you two different ways to wear this Spring trend: Subtle or Bold. For the subtle look I picked up Revlon's Lip Butter in Sweet Tart, a bright semi-sheer watermelon red. For the bold look I wanted to go with a coral. I chose Maybelline's ColorSensational Lipstick in Coral Crush, a very pigmented coral pink.

Although I enjoyed wearing both of these colors, the Revlon Lip Butter was honestly something I might actually reach for on a normal day as a cute pick-me-up color. I thought this lip butter was very feminine & really brightened up the face.
The Maybelline color however, was a bit too bold for daytime for me. I did love the look, but as a girl who rarely strays from nude or light pink lips, this was just a wee bit out of my comfort zone. I do think I would reach for this color again as a night-out lip.

How do you feel about wearing bright lips for Spring? Do you prefer to wear subtle or bold colors on your lips?
Lots of Love,
Louise

Thank you! That's very sweet of you to say! <3
ReplyDeleteI agree about the pigmentation- I was especially surprised about the lip butters, I thought they would be MUCH more sheer. But they have really great color payoff!
OOOOOOOOO to revlon's sweet tart.. LOOOVE this color but with my skin tone im not sure if I would like it as much as just swatched!
ReplyDeleteAnd im not a big lipstick person so I don't know if im bold enough to rock a bold lip!!
