Hello Lovelies! Hope you all are having a great start to the month (hard to believe it is September already)! Today I want to talk to you all about a product that I have spent many a mall trip searching for: the ideal tinted moisturizer. Well, I can say with confidence that that search is finally over for me thanks to the tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer. After using this beautiful product for the past few weeks, I cannot imagine my morning routine without it, and have been gushing about it to just about anyone who will listen!
Let's just say, I have tried many a tinted moisturizer in my day. The famous Laura Mercier one made me break out in cystic bumps (not cute!), NARS was lovely but didn't have my ideal shade (even the lightest option made me look slighty pumpkin-esque) and Clinique didn't last more than 2 hours on my combo skin. But the tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer, this one I love.
The color I own, Agent 02, is perfect for my neutral fair skin. It comes out of the tube looking a bit light, but once I buff it in, it seems to deepen very slightly and matches my skin tone perfectly. I love the illuminating effect it gives the face as well. There is mica in this formula, so minor shimmers are to be expected, but the effect is so subtle and natural once on the skin, I can't even detect the shimmers (even in direct sunlight). This tinted moisturizer contains an SPF of 20 which is always a great addition in face makeup, but is a factor low enough that you don't get any nasty flashback in flash photos.
Although the formula is oil-free, if you have combo to oily skin, I highly recommend using a primer underneath and/or setting with powder. As long as I apply my Benefit Porefessional underneath, and set with my MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder, I have absolutely no issues with oil. Also, the wear time of this product is amazing for a tinted moisturizer! I put this on around 7 am every morning before work, and by the time I return home at 7 pm my makeup is still there where I put it with hardly any wear or patchiness (this is compared to foundations such as Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua that have all but disappeared from my face by the end of the day).
This tinted moisturizer applies like a dream with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush, works wonderfully with any concealer I have tried, and never balls up or goes patchy with powder products on top of it.
Honestly, I have yet to find a tinted moisturizer that surpasses this one in color range, naturally beneficial ingredients, longevity, and just all around ease of use. I can't imagine this product not working for someone, regardless of their skin type. It is truly an HG product for me!
Ok, the gushing is now over...
