Hello Lovelies! I wanted to show you a new bronzer that I recently picked up. For the past few months I have faithfully been using my Benefit Hoola bronzer to contour my face & add a bit of color to my otherwise lackluster skin. As my Hoola bronzer was nearly finished, I was in need of a new one and wanted to try out something different. I have to mention that I generally steer clear of shimmery bronzers because I feel they can tend to look a little unnatural. However, I love Chanel face powders & thought the Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powders looked promising in photos. So, I decided to stop by my local Chanel counter & let's just say, I fell in love.
The Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder (what a mouthful) is limited edition for Summer 2012 and is available in two shades. Sable Beige is geared towards lighter complexions, while Sable Rose has deeper rose tones and is intended to add warmth to medium to deeper complexions. As I am very fair, I went for the lighter of the two, Sable Beige.
The colors in the palette are beautiful shades of bronze, terracotta, peach, and a golden cream. Swirled together they give a flattering peach-toned bronze glow to the skin.

Although this powder looks very shimmery in the pan, I was pleased to discover that this does not translate to the skin. Once on the skin, the shimmer is hardly noticeable. The Chanel bronzing powder imparts a luminous (as the name denotes) finish on the skin that is really quite brightening & flattering. I was also surprised by the pigmentation of the darker strips of color in this compact. My favorite way to wear this powder is to take a smaller face brush & use the darker strips of color near the top to contour my cheeks. I then take a larger powder brush & swirl it through all the colors to bronze the rest of my face, neck & chest.
I have to mention that this bronzing powder was a splurge at $60 but I do feel that it was worth the price. The powder is very finely milled and feels luxurious on the skin. I expect this bronzer to last me a long time because I don't need more than a few swipes across my face, neck & chest to achieve my desired bronze hue. Also, because of the individual strips of color in the palette, this product can be used for multiple purposes. I have already used the lighter shades exclusively for a subtle highlighter & the golden shade as eye shadow to brighten my inner tear duct area.
When I first purchased the Luminous Bronzing Powder in Sable Beige I was immediately reminded of another bronzing product in my collection, the Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid in Sunkissed (review here). Although the effect on the skin of these two products is fairly similar, the Bronzing Powder is much warmer & more peach-toned, while the Illuminating Fluid leans more pink & neutral- toned.
Below I included swatches of both products. The top two swatches are of the Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder. The top swatch is a mixture of the lighter strips of color, while the bottom swatch is of all the shades blended together. The very bottom swatch is of the Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid in Sunkissed.
The Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powders are gorgeous, multi- purpose products, perfect for Summer 2012. I highly suggest you stop by your local Chanel counter & see these for yourself!
Thanks for reading!

Louise
